Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems, labor laws, and accounting best practices, and will serve as a key liaison between HR, Finance, and employees to ensure compliance and satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and commission-based employees across multiple states.
Review and verify timekeeping records, deductions, bonuses, and benefits contributions.
Ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time, including new hires, terminations, and status changes.
Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the system (including garnishments, tax withholdings, etc.).
Collaborate with HR and Accounting to reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare payroll reports for internal use and audit purposes.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Handle inquiries related to payroll, direct deposits, W-2s, 1099’s, and pay discrepancies.
Stay current with updates in payroll legislation and regulations.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of payroll processes and related tax and labor regulations.
Proficiency in payroll software , Transportation Management Software (McLeod), and Quickbooks (Paychex).
Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Preferred Experience:
Multi-state payroll processing
Experience working with Owner Operators and Company Drivers (if in trucking/logistics)
Understanding of DOT compliance as it pertains to payroll (optional, industry-specific)
